Dude, I posted this a while ago in the News for All Gamers thread. And I agree, it really is a surprising story.
But like they said on Attack of the Show's The Loop, E3 was not an event intended for consumers and in the last years turned out to include them as part of a large group they service to. Its really intended for the media and retail holders of games. The three large console makers spend loads of money into this event, even working around this event's date to prepare demos of games to present, so in a way its good. But the money could be better spent somewhere else, and the major console holders already have events like this of their own, so its not a big deal. But for consumers and gamers as a whole, its a huge blow.

After thinking about it, I would have to change my opinion to this will be better for the Gaming community in the end.
