Being a fan of Sonic games, I have been eagerly awaiting this game for a while. It shows a lot of promise to get back to what made the original games so popular - SPEED! Yes, the most recent games introduced too many obstacles or levels that required more jumping, cutting down on speed. I will admit that I really enjoyed the level "Westopolis" from Shadow the Hedgehog, but there were still too many times when I found myself slowing down. In one video I saw, Sonic was racing at an incredible speed while making jumps from long floating platforms - what I have wanted to do all along! Because they are focusing on speed again, Sonic Team has made it so that the more rings you collect, the faster you run! All the other trademarks (grinding, springs, etc.) will still be back too. As for the story, they have made that very realistic. The recent games (save Shadow the Hedgehog...haha) have been viewed as more "childish" (ugh...Sonic Heroes...) so Sonic Team wants to bring back their audience. And here is a report on a demo for the game: www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/sonicthehedgehog/news.html?sid=6149215&mode=recentIf you want a brief plot synopsis, I can give that later too

Sounds interesting. There are many game franchise that are being revived with brilliant games like RE4 and Zelda: WW. This one should too, I hope, for your sake. I was a fan of Sonic since I was addicted to it on SEGA and look forward to seeing what this one is like. I won't buy it, but I am interested to see the look and feel.
I loved going so fast, I got so ticked when I would hit those blasted spikes! Losing all my rings! But its been ages since I played. And I know, I heard Shadow the Hedgehog was an abomination for G4 or something.

Yes. It was terrible, and if I wasn't sickened by the fact that I would have to relive it, I would write a review.

I'm hoping as well ;D
Speed is what made them so fun for me, and speed is what all the games they released in the past were lacking
Haha those spikes were the worst "enemy" in the game! Always in places you never would expect...
And Shadow the Hedgehog... Well when I first saw a game review for it, I was like "this must be a joke" because there were guns and Shadow was going around saying "D***!" When I finally convinced myself that it was the real deal, I thought "ok, this could be worth a try." So I did get it. And for the most part, it was ok. I just didn't like the fact that they overused the curse word way too many times. Every 5 seconds it seemed I heard it again...and the guns are a whole different story...heck I might as well write a review tomorrow and submit it here haha

Oh! Save yourself the trouble! If it will make you feel better getting some things off your chest about it, by all mean, rant...or rave.

Ok the guns: every gun in the game was WAY overpowered. But that was a good thing, because I needed to be able to kill enemies and maintain my speed. Now the aiming system. Using the physics with these guns, I would be able to accurately blast a fly between the eyes with an entire clip for a gatling gun from 500 feet away, but miss with a bazooka from 3 feet away. Yes, all the weapons that did not have a huge blast radius had an auto-lock feature that rarely missed. Meanwhile, the bazooka weapon was so clunky with the on-screen targeting mechanism, you would be lucky to actually score a hit!
The levels: the first few (Westopolis, the canyon one, and the highway one) were decent in my opinion, because you could run as fast as possible in this game for a small distance. Everywhere else, you would smack into another wall that needed to be blasted, or encounter enemies you were required to defeat. Plus some vehicles were required to get further - NOT FUN
Voices: if I had a way to mute the characters, I would do it in a heartbeat. I couldn't stand them. Sonic was waaaay to excited about something, Vector had something caught in his throat, Charmy was as annoying as ever....oh don't make me go on!
The story: we got answers, sure...after progressing through about 16 "fake" endings! (probably exaggerating, but it was more than 10). Only the "Perfect Ending" gave the true story
I think I'll go ahead and stop there for now haha
It was fun to play sure, but not a classic I will keep coming back to.
Oh one more thing - I got all "A" rank on every level and did the survival mission/exercise bonus, and guess what my reward was...
*WARNING - MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!!!*
I GOT TO WATCH THE CREDITS AGAIN!!! AS IF I HADN'T SEEN THEM 20 TIMES ALREADY!

I WANNA PLAY!... I hated Shadow the Hedgehog. I didn't stop at the obsticals...or however you spell that, I just ran past them. All I felt like I was doing was running really fast...forwards...and it was lame. I didn't stop to kill anyone. I just ran.

Yeah, I just wanted to keep going foward and not stop. The worst part was the missions...they made you hunt down every enemy sometimes, which was hard to do if all you wanted to do was keep moving fast!
So this one does hold promise it seems ;D

Have you seen Wild Fire for the Wii? You use the wiimote to control sonic! I was like whoa! If they get it right, a definite must-buy for any Wii owner.

Yea, you tilt left, he goes left. You tilt right, he goes right. When you shake the wiimote, he jumps and attacks. I think, if done right, this could be spectacular.
